The MINI John Cooper Works Paceman features ALL4 all-wheel drive with a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine with a twin-scroll turbocharger, petrol direct injection and variable valve control. The 1.6 litre engine outputs 218 hp with a peak torque of 280Nm available from 1,900 rpm with 300Nm available from 2,100 rpm with overboost engaged for short periods of fun.
The John Cooper Works Paceman is available with either a six-speed manual gearbox as standard or optionally a six-speed automatic transmission. The JCW Paceman is capable of 0-62 mph in 6.9 seconds with a top speed of 140 mph with the manual transmission or 139 mph automatic box. The average combined fuel consumption is official recorded as 38.2 mpg (automatic: 35.8 mpg) and CO2 emissions of 172 g/km (automatic: 184 g/km).
The John Cooper Works Paceman’s suspension set-up has been modified to include firmly tuned springs and dampers, strengthened anti-roll bars, a 10-millimetre lower ride height and a braking system with red callipers. The DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) system comprises DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) mode, and the standard Sport Button allows the driver to tweak the engine’s responses and soundtrack, as well as the power assistance provided by the steering.
The interior features bespoke sports seats, a sports steering wheel, interior trim strips in Piano Black, an anthracite-coloured roof liner and dark-coloured dials for the speedometer and rev counter. Although compact the Paceman has four seats and is capable of carrying 330 litres of cargo with the seats up, with them down (they split individually) this increases to 1080 litres.
Standard equipment includes air conditioning and the MINI Boost CD radio, options include xenon Adaptive Headlights, rain sensor, Park Distance Control, Comfort Access, electrically operated glass roof and trailer coupling; large choice of exterior paint finishes, bonnet stripes, upholstery variants, interior surfaces and Colour Lines; MINI navigation system, harman/kardon hi-fi loudspeaker system and unique in-car infotainment functions available via MINI Connected.
