MINI has introduced a folding bike which, when folded, can be stored in the boot of a MINI. The bike is aimed at commuters who can park their car on the outskirts of town and cycle through the city centre, avoiding congestion charges, it can also be taken on to public transport free of charge.
High quality components, a lightweight aluminium frame and the folding mechanism all help make the bike easy to use, carry and store. The bike can be folded and unfolded in seconds. It is folded along the crossbar and handlebars, additionally, the saddle can be retracted and the pedals can be folded up, all making the bike easy to handle.
A sleeve is stored under the saddle and makes for simple transportation. Weighing less thank 11kilos and equipped with eight gears and 20 inch wheels the riding characteristics are similar to those of a standard bike.
The MINI Folding Bike is finished in matt black with silver MINI lettering on the crossbar, a brand logo on the handlebars and Union Jack motif on the rear forks. The bike chain and bell are highlighted in neon yellow.
Available from August 2011, the MINI Folding Bike is priced at 499 euros.
