A standard six speed manual gearbox provides short-sift travel and provides good mid-range acceleration. MINI Cooper S, John Cooper Works and Cooper SD Coupe models come with a self-adjusting clutch, where automatic readjustment means the pedal weight will remain the same throughout the car's lifetime.

Steptronic function, with shift paddles is available as an optional extra for the MINI Cooper Coupe, MINI Cooper S Coupe and MINI Cooper SD Coupe, for those who prefer automatic transmission.

A Sport button is standard across the MINI Coupe range, which will alter the response of the accelerator delivering sharper, sportier reactions for more enthusiastic driving, which will require more steering input but is complimented by more responsive feel.

The MINI Cooper Coupe comes with 15-inch alloy wheels as standard, where the MINI Cooper S and MINI Cooper SD Coupe comes with a 16-inch version. The MINI John Cooper Works Coupe is specified with 17-inch, weight-optimised alloy wheels in JCW Cross Spoke CHALLENGE styling.
