At the 2011 Shanghai Motor Show, MG launched the MG 5 concept, a precursor to the production model that will front the brand's launch to overseas markets joined by the MG 3, 6 and 7.
MG's long term plans include a new rear wheel drive sports car which will "invoke the spirit of the MGB". The car will not be launched until 2016 at the earliest due to feasibility studies only just starting.
2014 will possibly see a crossover aimed to rival the Kia Sportage and Nissan QASHQAI. Hybrid and EVs are also being planned with the all-electric EP11, based in SAIC's E1 concept unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show, which will debut in 2013 with slow and rapid recharging features.
