Mercedes have unveiled their new BMW X6 rival ahead of its launch next year.
As with the X6 the GLE Coupe blends the concept of an SUV with a coupe whilst riding on the principals of the new M-Class which is also to be launched next year.
There will be a range of six-cylinder engines at launch, all with 4MATIC permanent all-wheel-drive and nine-speed automatic transmissions, eight-cylinder units have yet to be confirmed.
The launch engine-line up includes the GLE 350 d 4MATIC diesel outputting 258hp /620 Nm , the GLE 400 4MATIC petrol with 333 hp / 480Nm on tap and the 367 hp/520 Nm GLE 450 AMG 4MATIC.
Normally power is split 50:50 between front and rear but the GLE 450 AMG edition has its torque basis set at 40:60 to give a sportier feel.
There will be plenty of tech with options such as a 6-disc DVD changer, Rear Seat Entertainment System with remote control, TV receiver or Bang & Olufsen Sound AMG sound system.
