The four-wheel drive Mercedes Benz A 45 AMG is powered by a hand-built 2.0-litre 360hp/450Nm which is capable of 0-62 mph in 4.6 seconds and an electronically limited 155 mph top speed. Yet on the official combined fuel cycle is capable of 40.9 mpg with CO2 emissions of 165 g/km.
The A 45 AMG features AMG’s 4MATIC all-wheel drive as standard along with a AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT seven-speed sports gearbox. The 4MATIC all-wheel system can split the torque between front and rear axle up to a ratio of 50:50. Power under normal driving is sent to the front-wheels but can re-distribute power under the influence of the vehicle’s speed, lateral and longitudinal acceleration, steering angle, speed difference between the individual wheels, selected gear and accelerator position.
The exterior is pure AMG, from the AMG light-alloy wheels with 235/40 R 18 tyres to the AMG "twin blade" radiator grille and the cross strut in the AMG front apron, finished in matt titanium grey.
The inside features sports seats in ARTICO man-made leather/DINAMICA microfibre with red contrasting top-stitching. The dashboard trim comes in carbon-fibre look which matches the five air vents in black/red, the red seat belts and the AMG door sill panels. The AMG instrument cluster presents information by means of a central colour display with the AMG main menu and the RACETIMER.
