The Mercedes Benz A 45 AMG is now available to order from £37,845 with an expected delivery date of August.
The A 45 AMG is powered by a 1,991 cc hand built four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which outputs 360 hp at 6,000 rpm, producing 450 Nm of torque between 2,250 and 5,000 rpm. The power is put through an AMG Speedshift DCT 7-speed sports transmission to an AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive system, you can opt to change gear via the centre console or the metal paddle shifters located behind the steering wheel.
With a 181 hp per litre output, acceleration from 0-62 mph takes 4.6 seconds with a top speed electronically limited to 155 mph. The official combined fuel economy is 40.9 mpg and Co2 emissions are rated at 161 g/km, you even benefit from stop/start technology.
When compared to a standard A-Class you will notice the AMG styling with a different front bumper with extensions to the air dams to feed the intercooler. There is an AMG grille with a deep front splitter and, at the side of the car, gloss black sill extensions. At the back there is a new bumper with a custom exhaust system. The A 45 AMG rides on dual five-spoke 18-inch wheels, with the option of different designs with the availability of 19-inch wheels.
The interior sees AMG Performance seats with red stitching and red nappa leather. This extends to the steering wheel which is covered in nappa leather with red stitching, there are red seats belts and the AMG badge on the seats and carbon weave textured trim.
You can for an extra £1,530 add the AMG Aerodynamics package which comprises a large front splitter with additional flics as well as an AMG rear aerofoil for extra down force. If you like this you will want to add the £510 AMG Performance Exhaust which is denoted by four chrome tailpipes, to encourage a more purposeful engine note.
