Earlier this month, Mercedes Benz was heralded as Carmaker of the Year by business magazine AM. Judges praised the company for its new retail network, its Retail division, and used car residual values. AM said: "Any top-notch retail experience can only be as good as the product. And Mercedes Benz had quality product to spare. With the launch of one of its best models in recent years - the critically-acclaimed E-Class which offers a stimulating driving experience plus comfort and ultra-modern technology - plus ongoing improvements to the S-Class and CLK, it all adds up to a winning package.
"Mercedes is covering all the bases. Its move towards larger territories controlled by fewer dealer partners is one that is being followed by other carmakers - albeit with less fanfare and considerably less attention from the media."Three Top Gear Awards
Three model ranges were recently picked out for praise by BBC Top Gear Magazine: Mercedes Benz won a hat-trick of awards. The Best Executive Car was judged to be the new E-Class Saloon! Best Coupé was the new CLK-Class Coupé, while the SL-Class Roadster won the Best Convertible award.
Jeremy Clarkson, a presenter of BBC TV's Top Gear show said of the SL-Class: "As a car, the SL 55 can't be beaten. Fresh air in summer, gadgets in the winter and big power all the time."
The CLK-Class Coupé won praise from Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond who remarked: "When a glamorous car also stacks up as a sensible option it's got to be good."
Top Gear Magazine also justified its choice of the new E-Class Saloon, commenting: "With the new age of motoring upon us - gridlock, road rage and congestion charging - the perfect antidote to an all-too frequently stressful experience has arrived. For the harassed executive, the Mercedes Benz E-Class is as good as it gets."
