Mazda RX-8

Mazda is set to woo fleets and company car drivers with the launch of its range-topping Mazda RX-8 four-seater sports car.

With limited UK production available and current demand expected to be high fleets are being urged to pre-order their Mazda RX-8 through the Mazda Business Centre. The fleet pre-order facility opens on 9 May and orders can be placed via e-mail with their specific requirements at

Retail customers can pre-order their Mazda RX-8s at and for a £1,000 deposit be the first in the country to take delivery of this unique sports car.

The Mazda RX-8 will be the company's third new model this year following the Mazda2 and B Series Pick-up and, like those vehicles, it offers both fleets and company car drivers stunning value for money.

Powered by a 1.3 litre rotary engine with a choice of 192 PS or 240 PS power outputs the Mazda RX-8 ‘low power’ will cost £19,995 on the road and the ‘high power’ £21,995 when they go on sale in the summer.

Mazda’s stable of value-for-money vehicles with their excellent residual values and low wholelife costs has seen the Japanese marque ‘zoom-zoom’ up the fleet sales charts in 2003.

In a fleet market up just 1.1% year-on-year Mazda’s registrations in the sector have rocketed a sensational 130% for the first quarter of 2003 versus last year. Fleet success was further recognised when the Mazda6 was voted ‘Best Upper Medium Car’ in the prestigious 2003 Fleet News Awards.

Jeremy Thomson, Mazda’s fleet and remarketing director, said: "Mazda is reaping stunning success in the fleet sector and the launch of the Mazda RX-8 is set to become the ‘halo’ car and complete the comprehensive nine model range.

"The Mazda RX-8 is a true four-seat sports car and I expect it to be both aspirational and desirable in the company car parc where image counts. Its design – including room for four adults and plenty of luggage – means that unlike traditional coupes there is no compromise on space."

Designed with both fun and functionality in mind the Mazda RX-8 is a high-performance sports car featuring a unique freestyle rear door system allowing easy access to the rear two seats.

Standard equipment on both models includes 18-inch alloy wheels, ABS with Electronic Brake Distribution, driver, passenger, side and curtain airbags, climate control air conditioning and a BOSE Premium audio sound system with nine speakers and a six CD auto-changer.
