The revolutionary Mazda RX-8 goes on sale at the end of October and has already exceeded the predicted 2003 volume with more than 1,600 customers having placed their orders via Mazda's web based pre-order facility. With over a month to go it is already proving to be another Mazda sales success.
Mazda opened its pre-order facility at the end of February and with six weeks before the car goes on sale the car has already reached its forecast sales for 2003. However, there is capacity for sales of up to 2,000 during 2003 so anyone wanting to be the first to own one of these unique rotary powered sports cars can still order one on the web site at www.mazdaRX8.co.uk for a deposit of £1,000 or through their local dealer.
From the 1,600 customers Mazda has built up an interesting profile of who is buying the Mazda RX-8. The majority of pre-order customers are aged between 25 and 55, with 82% male and 72% of customers opting for the 231ps version.
Mazda RX-8 customers come from a wide variety of backgrounds with the greatest percentage coming from banking, law or medical professions. Where they are trading in a car for the Mazda RX-8 the most frequently part exchanged models are Mercedes Benz SLKs, BMW 3 Series, Honda S2000s, Audi TT and A3s and VW Golfs.
