The first Mazda dealership in the Doncaster area for more than five years opened on 1 August when the Ringways Motor Group will become the fast-growing Japanese car company's 131st dealer in the UK.
Ringways, a Ford main dealer since 1967, launched the Mazda franchise from a newly-built dealership alongside its Ford business in York Road, Doncaster.
The Mazda facility – developed at a cost of more than £310,000 – is housed in a purpose-built showroom with a new parking area and compound for customers’ cars.
The new building houses a six-car showroom and reception area where two Retail Advisers are on hand to deal with Mazda private, fleet or corporate sales customers.
The advisers are trained in all aspects of the business ranging from giving advice on sales of new or used Mazda vehicles, finance options and parts and accessory sales. They will also book customer cars for service or bodyshop repairs.
Phil Wardle, the Franchise Manager for the new Mazda dealership, explained that by having two dedicated Retail Advisers to deal with all customer inquiries, it gave a single point of contact and retained close relations between the customer and the dealer, something that was "of paramount importance to Ringways' core priority of customer service."
With the showroom facility open seven days a week, customers can call in whenever it is convenient for them – even on a Sunday when the Retail Advisers are available to book the customer's car in for a weekday service or repair.
Service and repair facilities for the Mazda franchise will be provided within the current existing workshop but in a dedicated fully-branded area with two fully-trained Mazda technicians who will be working solely on Mazda vehicles. Bodyshop repairs will also be carried out on-site utilising the current facilities.
Ringways Mazda will sell new and used Mazda cars from this facility and in addition to the showroom there is a prominent display area for 30-35 vehicles and a dedicated customer parking area.
Having spent a good deal of his working life in the retail motor industry, 35 year old Phil Wardle joined Ringways in 2001 as Business Controller for retail sales before becoming the new Franchise Manager for their Mazda franchise.
He expects Mazda vehicle sales to be in excess of 150 units in their first year of business as they build customer awareness from virtually nothing, as Mazda had not been represented in the Doncaster area for at least five years.
