Mazda introduces the Special Edition Mazda MX-5 Indiana in showrooms mid September, once again offering affordable open-top motoring priced from just £17,000 on-the-road. The Indiana goes back to the Mazda MX-5 classic sports car roots featuring beige heated leather seats, wooden steering wheel and luxurious wood trim to complete the look.
The Mazda MX-5 Indiana will appeal to the head as well as the heart with its unique Garnet Red exterior, classic sports car interior and a well-equipped specification list offering great value for money. Over the 13 years of the Mazda MX-5 many special editions have been created; these models have proved very popular and have often added to the car's residual value.
Only 250 of the special Indiana editions are available in the UK, and with the spirited 1.8-litre fuel injected, 146ps engine and rear wheel drive, it is set to be a much sought after vehicle.
Recently named Britain’s Best Handling Car 2003 by Autocar, the Mazda MX-5 Indiana boasts dynamic driving performance for that pure sports car ‘fun-to-drive’ feel, and guarantees peace of mind thanks to high levels of safety and reliability. With a top speed of 127 mph and 0-62 mph in just 8.5 seconds, rear-wheel drive, highly responsive steering and a firm ride, the Mazda MX-5 Indiana reminds you what classic sports car driving is all about.
And the fun doesn’t stop there; a fully equipped package also includes 15" alloy wheels, front fog lamps, CD player, remote central locking, windblocker, MX-5 scuff plates and luxurious tan carpeting all fitted as standard.
The insurance group for the Mazda MX-5 Indiana 1.8i remains unchanged from the Mazda MX-5 1.8i at 12A.
The Mazda MX-5 has sold in excess of 600,000 worldwide in the 13 years since introduction. It has outsold other popular sports cars and received credit as the car that re-ignited interest in the affordable sports car segment, leading to many manufacturers copying the classic design and front engine, rear wheel drive layout of the Mazda MX-5.
Popular for its looks and driving dynamics the Mazda MX-5 brought fun back into motoring; no longer were motorists enclosed in a ‘tin box’, there was the freedom to throw off the roof and enjoy the sunshine. Suddenly motoring became more than just getting from A to B and owners started driving just for fun, an emotion long forgotten.
Last year was an all-time record year for the Mazda MX-5 in the UK with sales exceeding 7,000. The popular roadster looks set for another record this year with sales to the end of August at 6,977 compared to 5,065 during the same period last year; an increase of 38 per cent.
The Mazda MX-5 Indiana is available in showrooms from mid September priced from £17,000 on-the-road.
