Irene Bickerton from Islington has won a Mazda MX-5 in a Tropicana competition at Sainsbury’s and was presented with her car at a special presentation at Docklands Mazda on Thursday last week.
The Tropicana Competition to win a Mazda MX-5 sports car ran throughout Sainsbury’s stores nationwide in July and August. Entrants were asked to complete the tie-breaker ‘Tropicana Pure Premium brings more pleasure to my life because…’’ with Irene’s imaginative tie-breaker ‘Natural goodness helps me thrive with taste buds locked in overdrive’ proving the clear winner.
"I was so surprised when I discovered I had won," said Irene. "I had seen the Tropicana competition and decided to enter as I have always liked Mazdas but never really thought I had a chance of winning. I am really looking forward to driving the car down to Devon on holiday this weekend, I will be the envy of all my friends."
The Mazda MX-5 is the world’s most popular sports car. It is the car that brought back affordable and fun motoring to the sports car market. All Mazda MX-5s feature power door locks, electric windows, ABS, security alarm, an engine immobiliser, electric and heated door mirrors, an electric aerial, a ‘low-fuel’ warning light and ISOFIX anchorage points in the front passenger seat to accept a child safety seat.
Last year was an all-time record year for the Mazda MX-5 in the UK with sales exceeding 7,000. The popular roadster looks set for another record this year with sales to the end of September at 8,183 compared to 6,239 during the same period last year; an increase of 31.2 per cent.
