The interior of the B-Series is spacious and comfortable, resembling the interior of a family car rather than a pick-up truck. The Mazda B-Series 4x4 RAP Cab 4-Action is fitted with Mazda’s freestyle door system, as seen on the Mazda RX-8 sports coupe. The front doors open as any conventional doors, the rear doors open toward the rear and the B pillar is integrated allowing a large opening for easy access to the rear seats.
Other stylistic changes from its predecessor include a modified bumper, headlights and radiator grille, newly designed steering wheel, instrumentation panel and door trim and new seats offering more comfort and support.
There are also significant changes to the chassis that improve the vehicles’ road holding and handling. The steering system has been improved to provide more precision and braking distance has been reduced along with an improvement in the durability and running life of the brake pads.
ABS is now available, as is EBD and further safety improvements include higher luminosity headlights and a stronger body structure. The Mazda B-Series meets all European crash standards and the rear doors cannot be opened inadvertently as they require the front doors to be opened first.
The Mazda B-Series is powered by a choice of two engines: either the naturally aspirated 2.5-litre diesel which develops 84ps at 4,000rpm with 195Nm of torque at 2,000rpm or the turbo diesel 2.5-litre engine, developing 109ps at 3,500rpm with 266Nm of torque at 2,000rpm.
