The new Mazda CX-5 has been awarded five stars in the latest Euro NCAP tests.
Cars are appraised for adult occupant protection, child occupant protection; pedestrian protection and safety assist systems.
The CX-5 scored - 94% for adult occupant protection, 87% child occupant protection, 64% pedestrian safety and 86% safety assist systems.
The scores in each category are determined based on several crash tests, including a 64km/h frontal impact, 50km/h vehicle-to-vehicle side impact, 29km/h pole side impact and 40km/h simulated pedestrian impact. Euro NCAP now also evaluates the electronic stability control (ESC) system.
