The Mazda CX-5 compact crossover will go on sale on the 18th May 2012, priced from £21,395 to £28,795.
Mazda hope to sell 4000 CX-5s in the first year and at the launch there will be 18 models with a choice of two engines with three power outputs.
There is a two-wheel drive 2.0 litre SKYACTIV-G petrol engine which outputs 165ps, which as standard is fitted with a six-speed SKYACTIV-MT manual transmission. Acceleration from 0-62 mph is recorded at 9.0 seconds with a top speed of 124 mph. Official fuel consumption figures are 47.1 on the combined cycle with Co2 emissions of 139 g/km.
The 2.2 litre SKYACTIV-D turbo diesel unit which is expected to account for 85% of UK sales is available with power outputs of either 150ps or 175ps. The diesel engine can be specified with the choice of either the six-speed SKYACTIV-MT manual or the SKYACTIV-Drive automatic transmissions and the option of either 2-wheel or all-wheel drive for 175ps model.
Performance for the 2WD diesel 150ps manual is 0-62 mph in 9.2 seconds (10.0 secs automatic) with a top speed of 126 mph (123 mph auto). Official fuel consumption figures are 61.4 (53.3 auto) on the combined cycle with Co2 emissions of 119 g/km (139 g/km auto).
The all-wheel-drive diesel 150ps model with manual transmission will do 0-62 mph in 9.4 seconds; the auto is 10.2 seconds, with a top speed of 122 mph and 121 mph respectively. Official fuel consumption figures are 54.3 (51.4 auto) on the combined cycle with Co2 emissions of 136 g/km (144 g/km auto).
Where the all-wheel-drive diesel model with 175ps with manual transmission will do 0-62 mph in 8.8 seconds and the automatic the time is 9.4 seconds. The top speeds are 129 mph and 127 mph for the automatic transmission. Official fuel consumption figures are quoted by Mazda as the same as the 150ps model.
So there is wide range of engines, and there is the option of four equipment levels – SE-L, SE-L Nav, Sport and Sport Nav, which is availability, is dependent on the drivetrain option.
Standard equipment includes: 17-inch alloy wheels with 225/65 R17 tyres, dual-zone climate control air-conditioning, integrated Bluetooth system, cruise control, 5.8-inch colour display screen and Mazda’s Multimedia Commander.
Sport models CX-5s gain 19-inch alloy wheels with 225/55 R19 tyres, Bi-Xenon headlights with adaptive front lighting system, reversing camera and premium Bose audio system with nine speakers.
Nav models benefit from a TomTom driven system with advance lane guidance and IQ routes for an extra £400 over non-nav models.
Every Mazda CX-5 is equipped with ‘Smart City Brake Support’ (SCBS), which helps a driver to avoid a low speed (up to 19mph) frontal collision by activating the brakes and reducing the engine output, if the system detects a frontal collision is likely.
There is a safety pack available for £700 which comprises Rear Vehicle Monitoring (RVM), Lane Departure Warning System (LWDS) and High Beam Control (HBC). (AWD Sport and Sport Nav models only).
All Mazda CX-5 come with a 3 year or 60,000 mile warranty and 3 years European Roadside Assistance.
