The new Maserati Quattroporte has been launched at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The V6 model will be priced from £80,070 with the V8 starting at £108,125 with the first cars scheduled to be delivered this summer.

The new model promises better handling with a near 50:50 weight distribution and a reduction in weight of the V8 model of nearly 100kg. The new Maserati Quattroporte V8 has improved fuel consumption and emissions by 20 per cent over the outgoing model.  The wheelbase has been extended with interior space being increased to offer better leg and shoulder room. With the flexibility of four or five seats, the four seat option offering work space or entertainment options. Options include WiFi WLAN hotspot, 15 speaker, 1280 Watt Bowers and Wilkins premium surround system, 8.4” Maserati Touch Control screen.

There will be a choice of two bi-turbo petrol engines for the UK.

The V6 model is powered by a 3.0-litre engine producing 410 bhp / 550 Nm. This will achieve 0-62 mph in 4.9 seconds with a top speed of 177 mph.

The V8 has a 3.8-litre engine that develops 523 bhp / 710 Nm through its 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. This equates to 0-62 mph time of 4.7 seconds and top speed of 191 mph.

All models are rear-wheel drive through 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. Sadly the UK will not get the all-wheel drive model which is available in some left-hand markets.
