Lexus are debuting their new premium compact crossover at this month's Beijing motor show; it is their first entry into this market. It will take on the likes of the Range Rover Evoque and Audi's Q5.
It will go on sale across the world in the second half of 2014, the UK launch date and range will announced nearer the time.
The Lexus NX SUV will be available with three powertrains (yet to be confirmed for the UK), a 2.5-litre 195 bhp hybrid in the NX 300h; a new, a 235 bhp 2.0-litre petrol turbo unit in the NX 200t; and naturally aspirated 2.0-litre petrol engine in the NX 200. Front and all-wheel drive versions will be available, together with Lexus's stop and start system.
Some models will be available with Lexus's next-generation Adaptive Variable Suspension. Linked to the vehicle's Drive Mode Select system, this can change the level of damping force to improve comfort and reduce body roll.
There will be a comprehensive safety package that includes a new, full-range Panoramic View Monitor, all-speed Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and head-up display.
We would expect prices (which have yet to be announced) to start at a little over £30,000 up to around £45,000 for the top of the range model.
