On the road the Lexus feels grippy and sure-footed, with the kind of behaviour you expect of a rear-wheel-drive sports saloon. It is in its element on a steady cruise or a country route with long open bends. The steering is responsive and keeps you well in touch with precisely where the wheels are pointing. When the going gets tighter and twistier, it still hangs on creditably well, but when you are in press-on mode over this kind of terrain the CVT gearbox can become a bit irksome as it hunts its way through the ratios to deliver a good match for the conditions.Ease of Use
Having four doors means that access to the interior is pretty reasonable, and it feels fairly roomy inside, but not quite as spacious as some of its rivals. Being a saloon, it is less versatile than hatchbacks of a similar size, and does not have the option of folding the back seats to increase the load length and capacity. The boot at 450 litres is quite a good size, although you do lose a bit of space (about 30 litres) to the hybrid kit, when compared with a solely petrol Lexus IS. There is some cabin stowage for the kind of oddments and paraphernalia you might want to carry with you, but the car is not particularly well endowed with cubbyholes, and seems to have fewer than some other models in the same class of car.
