The 2012 Model Year range Rover Sport sees an improved in fuel efficiency, a reduction on CO2 figures with increased power. Output of the engine has gone from 245hp up to 256hp, CO2 emissions are reduced to 230g/km from 243g/km.
A new ZF 8HP70 8 speed automatic gearbox is partly responsible for the improvements. Fuel efficiency on the combined cycle is now 32.1mpg from 30.7mpg. The new 8 speed gearbox now comes with a 'Drive Select' rotary gear shift and steering wheel mounted paddle shift.
The 5.0 LR-V8 supercharged petrol engine produced 510hp and 625Nm of torque, achieving a 0-60mph time of less than 6 seconds.
For the 2012 Range Rover Sport, a powered tailgate has been introduced, which can be operated from a button located on the fascia, keyfob or the tailgate. The tail lift height can be set by holding the tailgate at the required height and holding the tailgate button for 10 seconds.
Changes to the tailgate graphics enhance the look of the Range Rover Sport with Gloss Black headlight inners and grille surround. The SE model features a Dark Atlas grille, the HSE and Supercharged models feature the Light Atlas. 20 inch alloy wheels in SParkle Silver with a high-gloss lacquer are also included with the Range Rover Supercharged model.
New infotainment systems include connectivity supporting DVD audio formats and the Hi-Line and Premium systems, a Hard Disc Drive Music server, Dual Tuner, iPod and video streaming via USB, audio streaming with Bluetooth and two USB ports which are located in the console lid.
For the rear passengers, WhiteFire wireless technology is used for the cordless headphones.
The Hi0ICE Harman Kardon System now has 11 speakers, up from the previous 9, and output is increased to 380W from 240W. The Harman Kardon LOGIC 7 system now features 17 speakers (14 previously) and an increase in power output to 825W, up from 480W.
Dual View technology, allowing the driver to view navigation display whilst the passenger watches a DVD is available for the first time in the Range Rover Sport, with a 7 inch touchscreen. The Dual View system comes with a set of WhiteFire headphones.
A new voice command prompt allows the driver to control the Nard Disc Navigation systems with the sue of step-by-step screen prompts and short spoken codes.
For the Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE, a Luxury Pack is available for £3,065 and includes contrast stitching, 20 inch alloy wheels, Premium ICE, an extended leather pack, HSE Luxury badge, a heated steering wheel and adaptive cruise control.
Available from October 2011 in the UK, the 2012 Range Rover Sport will cost from £48,795 on the road.
