Lamborghini has been presented with the Five Diamond Engineering Award at Concorso Italiano, the annual gathering of Italian cars which takes place during the Monterey Auto Week.
The award was presented for the innovations found in the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4, and was accepted by Lamborghini board member and Director of Research and Development Maurizio Reggiani on behalf of Lamborghini.
The Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4, which made its official debut in Monterey, features a 700hp 6.5 litre V12 engine, lightweight carbon fibre monocoque chassis, quick-shift ISR transmission and F1-inspired pushrod suspension.
"We are excited and honoured to accept this award from Concorso Italiano," Mr. Reggiani said. "Lamborghini's Research and Development team is extremely proud of the Aventador LP 700-4, and the design and engineering aspects that make it so special."
The Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 was also showcased at the McCall Motorworks Revival on 17th August 2011 and The Quail, a Motorsports gathering on 19th August. The events then concluded with a display on the Concept Lawn at Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on 21st August.
