Korean manufacturer Kia showcased its eagerly awaited new Sorento 4x4 at the NEC, giving the SUV top billing on its stand the British International Motor Show.
Appearing in the UK for the first time, the Sorento, available with either a 2.5-litre diesel or a 3.5-litre petrol engine, was the star attraction on the stand.
Kia Motors (UK) managing director Paul Williams explained: “Press and public reaction to the vehicle before launch has been unprecedented, with more than 2,500 potential customers already having registered their interest in the Sorento via our website.
“The Birmingham International Motor Show gives us a great opportunity to showcase what Kia has to offer and with the Sorento we have the vehicle that really expresses our confidence in the future.”
“It’s a completely new car from the tyres up, and shows how far and quickly we’ve come. We’re ambitious as well, with a range of new vehicles being planned for launch over the coming years – watch this space.”
The new 4x4 will be available from February 2003 and will be priced at around £18,000.
