Despite the overall market showing a slight fall for September 2011, Kia has seen increased sales compared to the same period in 2010.
In September 2011, Kia sold 9,729 vehicles, an almost 18% increase over 2010's 8,257, the total industry saw a 0.83% fall compared 2010.
Customers have shown a strong interest in the all new Kia Picanto and just-launched Rio. Retail sales for September 2011 was 4,837 compared to last year's 5105, whilst business and fleet sales were up 55% in comparison, with a total of 4,892 sales.
Michael Cole, managing Director of Kia Motors (UK) Ltd., said: "The September market was tough - especially in the retail sector - but thanks to new products and our industry leading seven year warranty Kia dealers were still able to attract private buyers in good numbers.
"We are also seeing good growth in our market shares – both in retail and business – and at a time when the total market continues to suffer from economic uncertainty that performance is important.
"We were handicapped by not having the full range of the new Rio available for the September market, but it was heartening to see that business-users now clearly recognise that Kia has to be on their shopping-list. This performance means we are still on target to reach our 2011 sales goal of 55,000 units," he added
