The new Kia Carens MPV has scored five stars in the latest Euro NCAP tests.
In the latest tougher NCAP tests it achieved Adult Occupant Protection (94%), Child Occupant Protection (76%), Pedestrian protection (64%) and Safety Assist equipment (81%).
Which compares to the Citroen C4 Picasso that was recently tested, which scored Adult Occupant Protection (86%), Child Occupant Protection (88%), Pedestrian protection (68%) and Safety Assist equipment (81%).
Euro NCAP testers awarded the Carens maximum point scores for side impact protection against a barrier, child protection for 18-month old infants, front seat whiplash protection and protection for pedestrians' legs. NCAP commented that the new Carens is equipped with a 'belt-up' reminder for all seats, a driver-set adjustable speed limiter and that all of the child restraint types for which the car is designed could be properly installed.Kia Carens Safety Equipment
The Carens is equipped with six airbags (front, front side and curtain), seatbelt reminders for all occupants, ESC (Electronic Stability Control), HAC (Hill-start Assist Control) to prevent roll-back and ESS (Emergency Stop Signalling) which flashes the brake lights to alert other motorists when the driver is making an emergency stop, which is standard across the range.Kia Carens Pricing
Prices start at £17,895 for the entry level Carens 1 1.6 GDi ISG and rise to £23,895 for the top of the range diesel Kia Carens 3 1.7 CRDi ISG. There is a choice of three engines, one petrol a 1.6 litre unit producing 133 bhp, and two diesel 144 bhp and 134 bhp. There are four trim levels '1', '2', '3' and '3 Sat Nav' with standard equipment including air conditioning, leather trimmed steering wheel, seven seats, all round electric windows, body coloured bumpers, door handles and wing mirrors.
