Jaguar X-TYPE Diesel Wins Executive Class Category At The Maxol Car Of The Year Awards

Jaguar X-TYPE Diesel

The Jaguar X-TYPE Diesel picked up the award for Best Executive Car at the Northern Ireland Maxol Car of the Year Awards 2004, held at the Belfast Hilton on Friday 12 November.

The Ulster Motoring Writers Association voted the X-TYPE Diesel the best entry in the class during 2004 thanks to its overall package and its value for money in the executive sector.

Picking up the award Ken McConomy, Jaguar's Corporate Communications Manager said: "We are delighted with this award, and that the X-TYPE Diesel is receiving such recognition. It is the latest example of the terrific response both of our diesel engines have enjoyed from the media but most significantly from the Irish media who are a group renowned for their tough judging criteria!"

The X-TYPE has scooped a number of awards since its launch in 2001 including most recently the X-TYPE Estate winning the Luxury Category at the Scottish Car of the Year Awards. The X-TYPE has also previously won both the Northern Ireland and Scottish Car of the Year awards in 2002 completing a unique 'Celtic double'.

Jim McCauley, Chairperson of the Ulster Motoring Writers Association, commented: "My members were hugely impressed by the Jaguar X-TYPE Diesel. Although a late entry into the diesel market, the overall package of grace, pace and price was truly a class winner."
