Darren Clarke will drive with a new sponsor this year - Jaguar Cars.
To coincide with the announcement of Jaguar’s Official Vehicle support for the forthcoming Daily Telegraph Damovo British Masters at the Marriott Forest of Arden in June 2003, Darren also clinched the Jaguar drive – a new Jaguar XKR.
Clarke will support Jaguar’s golf programme in the UK by attending the 2003 Jaguar Customer UK Golf Final at Turnberry Golf & Leisure Resort in October.
The event in its 10th year is one of the most prestigious corporate golf events in the UK with qualification earned through winning individual Jaguar Dealer Golf Days up and down the country.
Clarke, triumphant Ryder Cup player who finished 22nd in the Volvo Order of Merit in 2002 is passionate about cars and added: "I am really excited about the Jaguar XKR. It’s a stunning car made even better recently by the addition of the 400bhp 4.2 supercharged engine and the six speed gearbox and I am very pleased to be working with Jaguar Cars who are supporting golf in this way."
Ian Major, Director of Marketing for Jaguar UK Operations says: "We are absolutely delighted that Darren has joined the team and will support our UK customer golf programme. The Daily Telegraph Damovo British Masters will also become a highlight of the European Tour calendar and with it being in close proximity to Jaguar’s HQ in Coventry, it is a valuable opportunity to showcase our vehicle line-up."
The Daily Telegraph Damovo British Masters at The Marriott Forest of Arden will be held from 5-8 June 2003.
