The Jaguar XJ is Scotland's 2010 'Best Luxury Car’, according to the judges of Scottish Car of the Year awards.

The Jaguar XJ - a landmark for the revitalised Jaguar brand – was tested by motoring experts from the Association of Scottish Motoring Writers (ASMW) and beat the BMW 5 Series GT and the new Audi A8 to win the top Luxury Car prize.

John Murdoch, President of the ASMW said: “Today’s breed of luxury cars have to be as impressive to drive as they are to be driven in and no car showcases this better than our 2010 winner, the Jaguar XJ.

“Celebrating the continuation of a bold new design direction, our choice is magnificent inside and out. Whether it is the standard or long-wheel-base derivative, or powered by a potent mix of wonderful diesel and petrol powertrains, the XJ takes luxury motoring to a new level. It is a worthy winner of the Luxury Car category.”

Jaguar UK’s managing director, Geoff Cousins said: “The new Jaguar XJ has brought a bold new approach to the luxury car market in the UK with its distinctive design, generous accommodation and impressive predicted residual values.

“Our dealers and customers in Scotland are incredibly important to us and I would like to thank the judges of the Scottish Car of the Year for bestowing this prestigious award on the Jaguar XJ”

Priced from £53,900 on the road, the Jaguar XJ is on-sale now at Jaguar dealerships throughout the UK
