Jaguar S-TYPE

Jaguar S-TYPE Diesel saloon models will be Euro IV emissions compliant from July 2005 - six months ahead of the date demanded by legislation.

The new Euro IV compliant S-TYPE 2.7 Diesel replaces the EUIII model and is available to buy now with prices starting from just £28,895.

With a price increase of around 3%, over the existing EUIII model, customers will benefit from improved driveability and more responsive performance on top of improved tax efficiency: compliance with the forthcoming 2006 Euro IV emissions regulations means that the 3% company car tax supplement on diesel cars is waived for S-TYPE diesels registered in 2005.

Fuel consumption and CO2 figures have improved as a direct result of achieving the improved emissions status figures; the combined fuel consumption for the 2.7D manual is 41.5mpg whilst the CO2 figure for the S-TYPE diesel manual saloon decreases from 189g/km to 179g/km.

The impact of these changes is that a company car driver purchasing a new EUIV S-TYPE 2.7d manual in 2005 will now pay company car tax on only 22% of the P11D value of the car - a full 5 percentage point improvement for the fleet buyer of a £30,000 car (P11D value) paying tax at the 40% rate. This equates to an approximate saving of £1,800 over a typical three year cycle.

Peak power and torque of the S-TYPE 2.7 Diesel remain the same, but there are a number of other modifications that have ensured compliance with the Stage IV emissions regulations. An advanced fuel injection system utilises higher injection pressures and enhanced injector spray patterns. Calibration of the electronically actuated turbochargers, exhaust gas recirculation system and port deactivation systems is revised, and a new engine management calibration has been introduced in order to provide better throttle response. Additionally a catalysed diesel particulate filter (CDPF), which results in further effective exhaust emission purification, is fitted as standard further reducing emissions.

The CDPF has no costly scheduled maintenance requirements and a design life of 240,000km or 10 years.*

Fuel consumption for the 2.7 automatic remains the same at 36.0mpg and the CO2 output remains the same at 208g/km. However the waiving of the 3% diesel penalty gained through EUIV compliance means the company car driver will now pay tax on only 28% of the car’s P11D value - a 3-percentage point improvement.

Jaguar's Corporate Operations Manager, James Drake-Lee: "Sales of S-TYPE to fleets have increased significantly following the introduction of the diesel engine last year as more and more fleet drivers have realised what an attractive package the S-TYPE has become. The business case for selecting S-TYPE is now even stronger: Jaguar has always delivered style, power, refinement and prestige and the new EUIV emissions compliant S-TYPE combines these benefits with lower fuel costs and an improved personal tax equation."

Cost-conscious business users looking to transfer to the new S-TYPE Diesel will find price, competitiveness, comfort, driver appeal and comparatively low running costs in every model in the range which runs from £28,895 to £32,895.

*The S-TYPE Diesel also has a 15,000 mile service interval strategy which includes a "Service Indicator" message / warning light, which provides the driver with a mileage countdown to the next service interval. The completed mileage, at illumination of this message, will depend upon the customer driving cycle.
