The revised Jaguar F-Type (MY-2016) range will go on sale from spring 2015 priced from £56,735 for the entry level rear-wheel-drive manual model.
Jaguar has made a number of revisions to the F-Type line-up including the introduction of all-wheel-drive and manual transmissions, a major up-date for the infotainment system. Electric power steering has been introduced following customer feedback to provide a better feel. Torque Vectoring by Braking which was standard on the R models is now standard on S models, and an option on the rest of the range. The 550PS supercharged V8 comes to the F-TYPE R Convertible which is now available in both rear- and all-wheel drive configurations replacing the 495PS V8 S Convertible - with 0-60mph in 3.9 seconds in AWD form.
To appease the purist Jaguar has introduced the option of a six-speed manual gearbox on the rear-wheel-drive 3.0 V6 Supercharged 340PS and 380PS models. The all-wheel-drive cars, as with the 5.0 V8 models feature the eight-speed auto transmissions, which is still available on the 340PS and 380PS models.
To compete with the likes of Porsche's 911 Carrera 4S you can now opt for torque on demand all-wheel-drive - where under normal conditions 100 per cent of the power is sent to the rear-wheels with power being transferred to the front-wheels as soon as the rear axles begins to lose traction. AWD models are distinguished with a deeper central power bulge on bonnet, re-positioned side vents, badging and unique alloys wheels.
The infotainment system now sees the introduction of InControl Touch which includes 3D mapping and smartphone integration and the option of surround sound. Three systems are available: InControl Touch with 180W audio or 380W Meridian audio, and InControl Touch Plus, which introduces Meridian's 770W with surround sound.
The navigation system has been revised with better data entry and faster rendering including 3D mapping. There is a now a text to voice system which can automatically read back SMS text messages, including when stationary the ability to compose messages via the touchscreen.
InControl Apps allows you to connect your Apple or Andriod smartphone via the USB port and run / control compatible apps via the F-Type's touchscreen. The InControl Remote Premium App allows remote access to car include how much fuel is left in the cars, has the alarm been activated, you can even remotely start the car, so you can set the climate control before getting in - there is also the option for proactive vehicle monitoring, to track the car should it be stolen, etc.
