Jaguar have officially announced the name for their first entry into the SUV market - the -F-PACE will be the name of their new model based on the C-X17 crossover concept 'shown back in 2013, when it enters production in 2016.
It will set to rival models such as the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Porsche's Macan using the platform of the Jaguar XE and will only be available as a five-seater. -It will offer all-wheel-drive and will feature Jaguar's All-Surface Progress Control technology but this will be more of a family sports orientated road car than an out and out 4x4 off roader.
It will be built at the Solihull Plant situated in the West Midlands and will probably feature the same engines as the XE,� so expect four-cylinder diesel and petrol engines, and a V6 petrol supercharged option. It is early days but the V8 unit seen in the F-Type may well make its way into the line up to give the likes of the Macan a run for its money.
We would expect prices for the Jaguar F-PACE to start at around £35,000.
