Jaguar C-X17 SUV Concept (2013)
Jaguar C-X17 SUV Concept (2013)

Although technically only a concept, we would expect to see the Jaguar C-X17 SUV enter production, perhaps as early as 2015-6. The SUV is based on the same architecture as Jaguar's new 3-Series rival which will go on sale in 2015.

When we first saw the images, we were somehow reminded of Mazda's CX-5 and the Lexus's RX SUV. Of course one thing that Jaguar have access to is Land Rover's technical department, but we doubt this will be a hardcore off-roader - rather a blend of sports cars come all-wheel drive SUV - with Jaguar promising a top speed of 186 mph (engine dependent). And eco-credentials that see the CO2 emissions under 100 g/km.

The C-X17 SUV concept has a footprint of 4718mm (l) x 1959mm (w) x 1649mm (h), making it about the same size as Audi's Q5. The concept is sitting on 23-inch alloy wheels; whether they enter production we are not sure, but hopefully they will as they do look the part.

The interior is minimal but minimal in a good way and we hope the production C-X17 interior remains faithful to the concept with its touch screens, TFT consoles and leather sports seating.

We will keep you up to date with the C-X17's and we look forward to reviewing the SUV in a few years time.
