Jaguar has announced the extension of its partnership with Team Sky for the 2011 season. jaguar has supported the team since last year, providing vehicles to use for equipment transportation as well as offering backup during stages should the riders encounter any issues.
Alongside the ten team cars, new jaguar XF and XJs will be provided to transport the riders and support personnel to events such as the Tour de France and the Vuelta de Espana in a spacious, comfortable and practical environment.
A nine man squad including Bradley Wiggins, Geraint Thomas and Ben Swift, will be representing Team Sky and will start the Tour de France on 2nd July 2011. A fleet of specially adapted Jaguars will follow the the riders, each having four spare Pinarello Dogma 601 carbon frames mounted on the roof, which can be swapped in, should a bicycle develop a fault during the event.
Dave Brailsford, Team Principal of Team Sky, commented: "It's a tremendous boost to have the commitment made by Jaguar behind us, the logistical support provided by the vehicles is key to the smooth running of the team. We look forward to covering many more miles this season as we look to build on our performance over the past 12-months."
