Top performer on repair times and costs in 2005 awards

The lasting benefits of Hyundai ownership have been brought to the fore in the What Car? Used Car of the Year Awards for 2005. The results reveal that no other manufacturer can beat Hyundai’s record on the cost and speed of warranty repairs, and that very few can match its impressive reliability record.

The independent awards research, conducted with warranty provider Warranty Direct, reveals that the average repair cost for Hyundai models is just £135, less than any other of the 30 marques investigated. And if repairs are required, the average time needed to complete the job is less than an hour and a quarter, again a figure unmatched by any rival.

These factors earned Hyundai the Awards’ top five-star accolade and a strong top-six position overall, outperforming all European and US brands.

Hyundai’s excellent reliability record is backed up by the study of more than 31,000 warranty claims, revealing that Hyundai drivers make only 16.2 claims per 100. This is an emphatically better performance than premium brands such as Saab, Audi and BMW, which produced claims figures of 42.1, 41.2 and 34.0 per 100 respectively, keeping them firmly in the lower half of the awards table.

Furthermore, Hyundai is so confident in the durability of its products, it remains the only manufacturer in the UK to offer a five year unlimited mileage warranty which is fully transferable from owner to owner.
