The new Hyundai Tucson SUV has achieved a full five star rating under the latest Euro NCAP tests.

It scored 86% for Adult Occupancy, 85% Child Occupant, 71% Pedestrian and 71% for Safety Assist.

This compares to the new Renault Kadjar, a similar sized SUV to the Tucson, which scored  89% for Adult Occupant, 81% Child Occupant, 74% Pedestrian and 71% for Safety Assist.

The new Tucson features the latest safety and accident prevention technology including Autonomous Emergency Braking system, which alerts the driver to pending doom in front of car, and where no action is taken it, will automatically brake. There is also Lane Keeping Assist System, Speed Limit Data, Blind Spot Detector, Rear-Cross Traffic Alert and Vehicle Stability Management.

It even has an active hood system which helps to cushion a pedestrian in the event of making contact with the bonnet.

The new Hyundai Tucson is now on sale in the UK.
