We reported back in November 2012 that the new generation Hyundai Santa Fe had scored five-stars in the latest Euro NCAP tests.
It was awarded a score 96% in the ‘adult occupant’ category, with the judges awarding maximum points in the side barrier test thanks to the good protection afforded to all body regions. In the ‘child occupant’ category it received a score of 89% and 86% in the ‘safety assist’ category.
Now that the Euro NCAP tests have been concluded for 2012, the new Hyundai Santa Fe came out as the best-in-class, making it one of the safest vehicles ever tested and the best in the ‘Large Off-Road 4x4’ segment – ahead of the Mercedes-Benz M-Class and Range Rover who were also tested in 2012.
Allan Rushforth, Senior Vice President and COO of Hyundai Motor Europe, commented, “Having the New Generation Santa Fe recommended by Euro NCAP as the safest car in its class demonstrates Hyundai’s commitment to the safety of its customers and other road users. The car’s inherent safety combined with low CO2, high levels of equipment and emotional design make the New Generation Santa Fe the complete package for European buyers.”
