The Hyundai i40 saloon has been unveiled under the company's new slogan "New Thinking. New Possibilities" at the Barcelona Motor Show, following the debut of the i40 tourer at the Geneva Motor show.
The Hyundai i40 saloon has been designed and engineered at hyundai's European R&D headquarters in Russelsheim, Germany.
Available with a choice of four Euro V-compliant engines, two petrol and two diesels, providing power ranging from 115PS to 177PS, alongside manual and automatic transmission options.
Making its debut in the Hyundai i40 saloon is Hyundai's new 2 litre engine, named 'Nu', delivering higher torque, improved fuel economy and reduced emissions as well as high levels of NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness).
The new Hyundai i40 will feature technologies developed under Hyundai's BlueDrive eco-program, which includes Intelligent Stop & Go (ISG), low rolling-resistance tyres and an alternator management system.
The combination of BlueDrive technologies and the 1.7 litre diesel engine, which develops 115PS, the Hyundai i40 produces 114g/km CO2 emissions and 65.7mpg fuel economy.
THe Hyundai i40's wheelbase measures 2.767 metres, with front headroom of 1025mm, shoulder 1455mm and legroom of 1170mm, which aim to provide all occupants a comfortable ride over long periods.
Other features for the Hyundai i40 include smart-parking assist and lane departure warning system, along with Bluetooth with voice recognition, full map navigation and rear view camera. Also available is an electric parking brake, front air ventilation seats, heated and reclining rear seats as well as an auto-defog system and a heated steering wheel, as well as day-time running lights with Xenon headlamps (optional) or a TFT LCD supervision instrument cluster.
The Hyundai i40 saloon will go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2011, with Hyundai's Five Year Triple Care customer assurance, which provides five year unlimited warranty, five years of roadside assistance and five years of vehicle health checks.
