Two years ago Honda famously made an advert with a Honda Civic being built by children. So it was fitting that 15 Civics were used as the vehicles of choice by Foster Care Associates (FCA) in a recent John O’ Groats to Lands End recruitment drive.
The UK has a severe shortage of foster carers who are able to take in children of various ages and this initiative was thought up to try and raise awareness of this problem and recruit new carers.
The Civics - all emblazoned with the Foster Care helpline and telephone number - were used to transport the "travelling roadshow" which stopped at various locations en route to host events and rally potential carers to their cause.
Following the event, 91 people have registered interest with seven already signed up as full time carers.
"Finding good candidates is an arduous and time consuming task so this represents an outstanding achievement," explained Ian Smart, Marketing Managing for FCA.
Amethyst Honda, one of FCA's main suppliers was happy to be involved as the participating dealer with this initiative.
"FCA provide an invaluable service to the community and Honda were only too happy to be involved with the project," commented Peter Colbourne, Corporate Sales Manager from Amethyst Honda.
