Ricky Wilson the lead singer of the Kaiser Chiefs has picked up his new Honda Civic Type R direct from the factory in Swindon today.
Surprisingly this is the first new car for the 37 year old - and as Ricky said ‘What an amazing feeling. This is the first time I’ve ever had a new car and it’s also the first time I’ve had a car that’s a boy. My other two cars were girls!’.
Ricky has joined Honda as their ambassador for the new Civic Type R which has gone sale priced from £29,995. It is powered by a new 2.0 litre VTEC TURBO petrol engine developing 310PS/400Nm through the front wheels.
This equates to a top speed of 167 mph with 0-62 mph taking 5.7 seconds. Currently it has the lap time record for a front-wheel drive production car around the infamous Nurburgring circuit in Germany.
Philip Crossman, the Managing Director of Honda in the UK was heard to remark, 'We are quite sure that Ricky is going to have a lot of fun in his new Civic Type R. In fact, we even predict he could have a riot.'
