Chairman of Ford of Britain since 2009, Joe Greenwell has received a CBE in the Queen's birthday honours list 2011, for services to the automotive industry. Joe was also president of the automotive industry body for the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders in 2009 and 2010, and still remains deputy president.
Greenwell's motor industry career spans nearly 40 years, beginning his career as a graduate trainee with Austin Morris, and has held a number of senior roles in Jaguar, Ford of Europe and Ford North America, before he became chairman and CEO of Jaguar Cars and then chairman of Ford of Britain.
Stephen T Odell, Chairman and CEO of Ford of Europe, said: "Joe Greenwell has been a highly-influential figure in the British auto industry for many years, working closely with the SMMT, the CBI, and the Government on key issues relating to the future of automotive manufacturing in the UK, skills, research and development, and the low-carbon agenda.
"Joe is a great ambassador for Ford, and for the motor industry as a whole. The award of a CBE is an appropriate recognition of his achievements."
