If you’re thinking of buying a used car take note: Ford has been voted tops by a panel of used car experts this week, in What Car? Magazine’s Used Car of the Year Awards.

Ford Focus and Ford Mondeo each came top their respective categories (‘Small Family Car’ and ‘Family Car’), with the Ford Focus also being voted overall Used Car of the Year 2003.

“Choosing the best of the best was not too difficult”, said What Car? of the Ford Focus. “Pound for pound, it’s the best car on sale in Britain.”

These awards recognise the achievements of Ford’s used car division, Ford Direct, which was established in 1993 to provide top quality used Fords and now sells over 30,000 officially approved used Ford cars and vans each year.

Commented Stuart Harris, manager of Ford Direct: “We’re delighted by such a commendation from What Car? Competition in the used car market is as fierce as for new cars and these awards really prove the importance of Ford Direct quality and value for money.”
