Ford Mondeo Titanium TDCi

Ford's new super-diesel, the Mondeo ST TDCi is available to order now. At just £21,830 on the road customers are now able to own a sports diesel with great looks, power and economy.

Based on the existing Mondeo 2.0-litre Duratorq TDCi, the new 2.2-litre 155PS TDCi is the most powerful diesel from Ford yet. Producing 400Nm torque from just 1,800rpm, the new premium diesel engine powers Mondeo from 0-62mph in 8.7 seconds and on to a top speed of 137 mph.

The UK-exclusive model, Mondeo ST TDCi has been created to build on the unprecedented popularity of TDCi in the UK, which accounted for 54 per cent of Mondeo sales in 2003. Ford’s overall diesel sales volume is 27 per cent higher than a year ago, with total 2003 sales of 86,016 and the top two positions in the diesel sales chart with Focus and Mondeo respectively.

The all-new TDCi engine delivers outstanding performance, outperforming competition in both the amount of torque it delivers and it's accessibility (from only 1800RPM). Key performance is detailed below:

Max Power 155 PS
Max Torque 360 Nm; 400 with transient over-boost
Max Torque @ 1800 RPM
Max Speed 138 mph
0-62 mph 8.7 Seconds
31-62 11.0 Seconds
Combined F/E 46.3 mpg
CO2 151 g/km
VED Band B3
Euro Emissions Stage III

Mondeo’s renowned chassis capabilities with added sports-tuned suspension create a dynamic feel, while wearing an ‘ST’ badge means the new Mondeo also features exterior sports styling cues of the V6-powered ST flagship. A unique interior trim includes partial leather front sports seats, with full leather Recaro seats available as an option.

Those favouring the luxury of Mondeo Ghia X will also benefit from the new engine, as it also becomes available on Ghia X.

Also announced today were details of the new 3.0 V6 204 PS petrol engine. This new engine provides petrol power to customers who want premium refined power but do not want an ST. It replaces the 2.5V6 manual (detailed below). The 2.5V6 auto remains availble on Ghia X.

Max Power 204PS
Max Torque 280Nm
Max Torque @ 4900 RPM
Max Speed 149 mph
0-62 mph 7.9 Seconds
31-62 11.7 Seconds
Combined F/E 27.4 mpg
CO2 247g/km
VED Band D2
Euro Emissions Stage IV

Said Ford of Britain marketing director, Steve Hood: "These two new additions to the Mondeo range build on the successful 2004 freshening and further enhance Mondeo's craftsmanship and technology. With ST TDCi customers can now have it all, a powerful sports diesel with great looks and good fuel economy - no compromise. Ford is now cementing its position at the forefront of diesel technology, with our widest ever range of latest generation Duratorq TDCi engines."
