So far this year, Ford Focus has claimed one in every four UK customers in the medium car class. Total sales are now almost 20 per cent up versus the same period 2001, thanks to the popularity of the Ford Focus Silver and Ford Focus Chic special editions, refined new TDCi diesel engine and sporty Ford Focus ST170.
At the same time, Ford Focus has just been crowned the most reliable car in Europe, in the 2002 German Safety Standards Authority ‘TUV’ test, proving the best-seller’s dependability.
Now, Ford Focus is getting ready for September with two key introductions:
Taking Flight
The primary focus this September is on value, with the Ford Focus Flight available from £10,995 on-the-road.
Developed from the five-door LX, Focus Flight offers Ford’s Intelligent Protection System dual front airbags, air-conditioning, stereo radio cassette, 15-inch wheels and responsive 1.6-litre 16v Zetec engine.
Exterior colour options are Moondust Silver, Colorado Red or Metropolis Blue, with Focus’ wide choice of interior trims.
100PS TDCi – refinement, performance and even greater economy
Ford diesel sales are up 37 per cent already this year and diesel is even more desirable for September, with the 100PS TDCi giving Focus customers even greater fuel economy and accessibility.
Building on the excellent reputation of Ford’s TDCi, a new 100PS version of the Ford Focus 1.8-litre TDCi engine will be available from September in a choice of sports Zetec, or comfort-oriented LX and Ghia models.
100PS TDCi will be priced from £13,445 for the stylish three-door Zetec – £400 less than the 115PS TDCi. Official combined fuel consumption is a frugal 54.8mpg, while the CO2 rating is amongst the lowest in the medium car class at 138g/km. TDCi’s trademark smooth performance remains impressive in 100PS guise, with 0-62mph reached in 11.2 seconds and a top speed of 115mph.
Along with these changes, new equipment, a new palette of exterior colours and new interior trims will keep the Focus range fresh through the autumn season.
Added safety comes in the form of Ford’s Intelligent Protection System, with occupant and impact-sensitive, dual stage driver and passenger airbags now standard across the Ford Focus range.
Purposeful new 17-inch, 7-spoke alloy wheels are an option on Zetec and Ghia models in the revised range, along with a fresh set of exterior colour and interior trim options. New exterior colours include Vitro (tinted metallic silver green), Ink Blue (dark metallic), Blue Print (light solid) and Machine Silver, while interior trim options include Medium Light Stone (LX, Ghia) and Light Stone Leather (Ghia only).
"There’s now more choice for Focus buyers than ever before", said Andy Barratt, brand manager for medium cars, Ford Motor Company Limited. "Whatever the need, there’s a clear Ford Focus choice for value, comfort or sportiness."
Selected Ford Focus models are now available with zero rate finance over 24 months, with a 35 per cent deposit. All except CL and Flight are also available with low rate (9.9 per cent) finance over 24 or 36 months, with lesser deposits.
