The most talked-about car of 2002, the scorching Ford Focus RS, is setting a new speed record – in orders through UK Ford dealers.
Over 1,500 customers have now signed up for the ultimate performance Focus, meaning over 75 per cent of the first year’s UK production is now sold out, only four months after going on sale. In addition, more than 600 customers have already taken delivery.
Production at the Ford Focus plant in Saarlouis, Germany is at full capacity, building 30 vehicles per day, as planned. However, UK demand is outstripping supply to such an extent, new customers may wait up to six months to join the exclusive group of Focus RS owners.
Explained Ford of Britain managing director, Paul Thomas: “We’re delighted by the reception RS has enjoyed with media and customers alike. We knew the combination of practicality, affordability and supercar-rivalling performance was attractive, but the level of demand is exceeding even our own expectations. The plant is working flat out and there are only a few cars from our first year’s production remaining. We’ll make sure everyone who has ordered a Focus RS will receive it as soon as possible, but estimate the first year’s Focus RS production will be completely sold out within the next month!”
The Ford Focus RS is available now from all UK dealers, priced £19,995 on-the-road.
