Royal Mail is taking delivery of a fleet of Ford Transits in a multi-million pound five year deal that will see Britain’s best-loved van delivering the mail around the country.

Ford is supplying 1,500 short wheel base, low roof 2.0 litre turbo diesel Transits a year for five years to Royal Mail in a deal worth £75 million. Ford won the business from LDV who had previously supplied Royal Mail.

Steve Parker, Commercial Vehicle Director, Ford of Britain, said: "Continuing a successful partnership going back some fifteen years we are very pleased to be supplying Royal Mail for the first time in a deal that emphasises the Ford Transit’s strong heritage in Britain having been the best-selling medium commercial vehicle for 37 years. We are sure that the Royal Mail will find the durability and functionality of the Ford Transit a major asset."
