Ford Mondeo ST220

England cricket star Darren Gough picked up the keys to a speedy Mondeo ST220 when he signed to play for Essex County Cricket Club last week.

The County fought off strong competition to complete the star signing, but there was no contest when it came to Gough's mode of transport.

One of the many reasons Gough chose Essex was to be closer to his family. He flew into the Chelmsford ground in a helicopter, but took the ST220 for its first test drive back home. Gough later commented, "This car has the two things I look for, performance and comfort. I flew here but I can tell you I flew home too!"

Gough is in good company, England legend and Essex CCC Head Coach Graham Gooch also drives a Mondeo, opting for the luxury of a Ghia X last season.

Commenting on Gough's arrival, Essex CCC Chief Executive David East said: "We are delighted to continue the club's association with Ford having secured the services of one of England's most talented and charismatic sportsmen. We all look forward to working together this season."

Large car brand manager Keith Kershaw added: "Darren and Mondeo are a fantastic fit, he possesses many qualities we associate with this car: quality, class, performance and entertainment."
