Launch prices for the new Ford Sportka and Fusion + have now been finalised and the dealer order books are now open.

Sportka on the road prices start at £9,995 for the well-equipped entry model and rise to £10,995 for the top of the range SE model. Standard equipment includes 16" alloy wheels, ABS, rear spoiler, front sport seats, front fog lights and perimeter alarm. The SE adds leather seats, air-conditioning and power heated mirrors.

Fusion + is the flagship of the Fusion range. Offering great value at £12,850 on the road, Fusion + has an impressive list of equipment including 16" alloy wheels, privacy glass, air-conditioning, electric windows and is the first Ford small car to have a rear-seat multi-media entertainment system as standard.

"We are pleased to announce these highly competitive UK prices for Sportka and Fusion +. The Sportka’s new-found muscle, dynamic and edgy looks will appeal to those drivers who want their style backed up with a real performance punch at an affordable price. They won't be disappointed," said Paul Thomas, managing director, Ford of Britain.

"The new Fusion + is the most affordable, family-oriented model yet. It looks great, it's practical, spacious and drives and handles superbly. For the money Fusion + has to be on one of the most attractive small family cars on the market," he added.

These new model prices coincide with a price re-alignment to the Ford range that sees certain models increase in price, the first time for five years, and others decrease.

Around 60 per cent of the Ford model range prices remain unchanged or have decreased, with 115 models out of 400 models receiving a price increase.

A number of factors have led to these prices changes including sterling weakening against other currencies, warranty periods increasing from one to three years, and improved specification levels.

Prices for the existing Fusion range will be reduced by an average of 4.7 per cent across the range. This equates to savings of between £345 and £505 and creates a logical pricing structure between Fiesta and Focus.

Prices of certain Ka, Fiesta, Focus, and Galaxy models will increase by an average of 1.1 per cent from 1 May 2003. This means an increase of between £105 to £155.

There is no change in price for Mondeo, Maverick, Streetka and Ford's commercial vehicles. The prices of the Finesse entry models, the best selling derivatives in the Fiesta range, remain unchanged together with the Focus entry models.
