It was almost 40 years ago that the first Ford Transit rolled off the production line in Britain. To mark this milestone, Ford has created three special edition Transits and two special edition Transit Connects, continuing the Transit brand's 40 year tradition of giving British businesses the best value vans on the road. Transit and Transit Connect buyers can benefit with additional comfort and convenience features on their new vehicles, saving anything from £100 to £1,500.
"The Ford Transit is a British icon. It has been market leader in Britain every year since its launch in 1965. It has touched almost every British adult’s life in some way - through the community, work or play, " said Gary Whittam, Commercial Vehicles Director, Ford of Britain.
"Transit's success can be attributed to Ford always looking to meet the needs of astute British businesses. From 78 derivatives in 1965, there are now more than 500 types of Transit to keep Britain moving. Our comprehensive investment plans for the Transit brand will take us through its 40th year and well into the future, building the vans that build Britain.
"Every one of these limited edition models will be identified by a unique 'Great Briton's Van' decal, celebrating 40 years of Transit and its individual operators' contribution to building a Great Britain."
