The Ford S-MAX has been voted Best Big Car by the leading motoring magazine, Top Gear. This is the S-MAX's latest major award, coming soon after it was voted Car of the Year 2007 and best MPV at Scottish Car of the Year.
Whilst impressed by the striking styling, Top Gear judges also emphasised the performance of the engines and sporty drive of the S-MAX as deciding factors in the award, "The S-MAX appearance isn't just a case of smoke and mirrors, there's substance below that sleekly slanted bonnet," they commented.
"Witness the arrival of the S-MAX, an MPV via the stealth route: a futuristic wedge of sports-flavoured family car that, in short provides a welcome refuge for all those who risk feeling emasculated by MPV ownership. The S-MAX is the fresher, edgier, more complex proposition; a winner, sitting in a class all of its own."
With UK sales of over 4,000 since its launch in June and with the order bank still growing, S-MAX is proving a huge hit with UK customers. Available in LX, Zetec and Titanium variants, S-MAX shares the latest technology with the all-new Ford Galaxy. Prices start at £16,995 for the petrol 2.0-litre LX model to £21,995 for the sporty 2.5-litre petrol Titanium.
