Ford Motor Company today unveiled a stunning line-up of performance vehicles at the New York Auto Show. Ford's stand includes the world's most powerful Mustang ever and the first high-performance sport utility truck (SUT), plus the gorgeous limited edition 'Tungsten Silver' Ford GT.Shelby Cobra GT500
The most powerful factory-built Ford Mustang in history takes to the streets next year thanks to the "Mustang Dream Team" of Carroll Shelby and Ford Special Vehicle Team (SVT). The result of this unique collaboration is a worthy successor to the legendary Shelby GT500 of the late 1960s.
Shelby Cobra GT500 has modern performance credentials: more than 450hp, supercharged V8, six-speed manual transmission and SVT-tuned suspension. SVT functional features combine with Shelby design flare including Le Mans racing stripes, aerodynamic enhancements and 19-inch wheels with cross-drilled brake rotors. The driving zone is equally enticing with red leather seat and door trim and titanium-faced gauges.
Sport Trac Adrenalin will rush into an all-new niche in 2007: the high-performance sport utility truck. Adrenalin offers uncompromised utility, four passenger capability and true performance including a supercharged, 390hp V8 paired with SVT’s first six-speed automatic and all-wheel-drive. With four-wheel independent suspension for balanced dynamics, this truck delivers a confident driving character and advanced safety features, including Ford’s industry-leading AdvanceTrac™ with Roll Stability Control.
June 2006 marks the 40th anniversary of Ford GT40’s four-year domination of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, beginning with the famed 1-2-3 sweep at the 1966 race.
A special limited-edition exterior colour, Tungsten Silver, is being offered on the 2006 Ford GT to commemorate that sterling victory. The Ford GT is true to its SVT hallmarks of performance and value. It beats far more expensive exotic sports cars in head-to-head road tests and in style. In Tungsten Silver, the GT is super slick - the dark silver bringing out design features and subtleties of the car.
Just like the Ford GT, all the products coming from SVT are designed to offer outstanding high performance and value for money. Achieved with passion and flare, the combination of technology, engineering skills, and hardware make SVT products a winning choice.
There are currently no plans to bring these vehicles to Europe.
