The new Ford Mondeo which is available to order now, with first deliveries in December has scored a full five-star result in the latest Euro NCAP safety tests for 2014.

This is broken down into 86% for adult occupancy, 82% child occupancy, 66% pedestrian, and 66% for safety assist.

This compares to the comparable Vauxhall Insignia that also scored five-stars which was broken down as 94% for adult occupancy, 83% child occupancy, 53% pedestrian, and 86% for safety assist when it was tested in 2011.

The new Mondeo is available with a raft of safety technology including Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, and Inflatable Rear Seatbelts, plus nine airbags including a driver's knee bolster airbag.

There are the options of Dynamic LED headlights with Adaptive Front Lighting System, Ford MyKey, Active City Stop and SYNC 2 with Emergency Assistance which automatically contacts the emergency services in the event of an accident.
